The SIRIUS-850 is a vertical machining centre with a cross-table design. The Y-axis is equipped with four very wide, hand-scraped box guideways designed for heavy workpieces. The high-torque, oil-cooled HWACHEON spindles (8,000 or 12,000 rpm, 420 Nm, 30 kW) enable high material removal rates and excellent surface finishes with maximum precision, even during extended operating times.

Integrated Spindle Motors

At Hwacheon, only the most experienced and highly trained employees work in spindle production. Spindle assembly takes place in climate-controlled clean rooms, and all spindles undergo extensive endurance tests and inspections before being approved for installation.

Oil-Chilled Spindles

Hwacheon’s spindle cooling system ensures a continuous flow of oil through the spindle bearings and around the surface of the integrated motor, lubricating and tempering the entire spindle. Temperature sensors monitor and actively regulate the temperature, while heat increases are compensated for on the control side.

Box Guideways

The machining centre is equipped with four very wide box guideways on the Y-axis. These effectively absorb vibrations through the solid cast iron bed, enabling high table loads of up to 4 tonnes.

Air Floating System

To reduce break-loose torque and the stick-slip effect, the gaps in the box guideways are pressurized with compressed air. This ensures optimal distribution of guideway oil and exceptionally smooth movement over short distances and during oscillatory motions.
