Portal milling machine with box guideways for tool and mould making and large-format workpieces up to 8 tonnes

The SIRIUS-1350 features a large worktable that accommodates workpiece sizes of 2,800 x 1,250 mm. The table, positioned under the gantry, and the work spindle are supported by wide, hand-scraped box guideways. Workpieces weighing up to 8 tonnes can be machined dynamically and without stick-slip effects.

In addition to the powerful spindles, which are developed, designed, and manufactured in-house, Hwacheon relies on solid craftsmanship for its box guideways. The Turcite coating and integrated lubrication and air grooves on the bearing surfaces ensure consistently smooth and precise movement, significantly enhancing contour and positioning accuracy. Numerous thermal sensors in the machine bed, carriage, and spindle measure and compensate for heat buildup, while the spindle is actively oil-cooled and maintained at a constant operating temperature.

For all application areas, the SIRIUS-1350 offers the appropriate spindle:

  • Standard: 12,000 rpm with a power of 30/25 kW (30 min/const.) and a torque of 420/239 Nm (10 min/const.)
  • Optionally: 8,000 rpm with a power of 30/25 kW (30 min/const.) and a torque of 420/239 Nm (10 min/const.)
  • Optionally: 8,000 rpm with a power of 55/30 kW and a torque of 1,009/429 Nm (10 min, S3 / S1, const.)
