The SIRIUS-1050 is a vertical machining centre with a cross-table design. Its Y-axis features four wide, hand-scraped box guideways designed for heavy workpieces. The high-torque, oil-cooled HWACHEON spindles (8,000 or 12,000 rpm, 420 Nm, 30 kW) deliver high cutting volumes and excellent surface finishes with maximum precision, even during extended operations.

Integrated spindle motors

At Hwacheon, only the most skilled and highly trained staff work on spindle construction. Assembly takes place in climate-controlled clean rooms, and all spindles undergo extensive endurance tests before approval for installation.

Oil-cooled spindles

Hwacheon’s spindle cooling system circulates oil continuously through the bearings and around the integrated motor’s casing, ensuring lubrication and temperature control. Sensors actively monitor temperature, while control-side calculations compensate for thermal increases.

Box guideways

Four very wide box guideways on the Y-axis allow the solid cast iron bed to effectively absorb vibrations and support table loads up to 5 tonnes.

Air-floating system

Compressed air pressurizes the guideway gaps to reduce break-loose torque and stick-slip effects, ensuring optimal oil distribution and smooth movement over short distances and during oscillations.
